Extending a Hand to Those in Need

Southeast Testament, Inc
IN THE VALLEY- A LOOK AT SET
The short version of building a warehouse
“Make the road straight and smooth, a highway fit for our God. Fill in the
valleys, level off the hills, smooth out the ruts, clear out the rocks. Then
God’s bright glory will shine and everyone will see it.” Isaiah 40: 3-5.
The people who volunteered early on in the SET adventure are still able to
recall sore backs and muscles from attempting to tame this wild terrain of
Southeast Ohio into becoming a building site. What was once a wooded
area is now a building for the Southeast Testament warehouse and offices.
Through the help of volunteers, Southeast Testament was able to build a
large building to hold much needed supplies to be distributed to the
Vinton County area. Along with the warehouse and storage facility, the
building will also include offices for an on-site case worker to help
individuals and families in need. What started as one man’s journey of faith
and call from God has become a ministry that provides care and support
for one of the most deprived areas in Ohio.
After a lot of planning and a ton of prayer, on September 28th, volunteers
began the work of building a 6,600 sq. ft. warehouse structure. Of those
who helped, the numbers of brave souls with no building experience of any
kind far outweighed those with even a little. Although most of the
volunteers came from Peace Lutheran Church in Gahanna, employees from
LimitedBrands, family members, as well as Southeast Ohio friends and
neighbors spent countless hours
volunteering, praying and building.
The most amazing aspects of those
weeks were watching the building grow
from the ground up and watching all of
the crazy, faithful believers who did not
shy away from difficult and sometimes
dangerous conditions to reach a goal.
People worked hard. There was a little
blood, a lot of sweat and even some
tears. All who volunteered helped to
write the story of SET, whether spreading grass seed, donating food,
offering money and prayers or performing acrobatics with power tools. It is
good to look forward with excitement to the next chapter in the lives of
our neighbors in Southeast Ohio.
